Thank you all for your comments and responses. I think the fact that so many felt the need to read the article and express their thoughts on it does show that we are progressing, even if slightly.

I plan to make sure that my son knows what menstrual cycles are and how they work, so that he can at least be knowledgeable and have respect for what women have to go through, typically on a monthly basis.

I will say, if men had periods, this wouldn't even be a discussion. They would have all the access, funding, research, and everyone would know how much they suffer.
