Where in the World is Five Flower Lake?
Its array of colors pose it in a constant state of “rainbow dance”.
This week’s Where in the World adventure exchanges the blazing for the beautiful. How can a lake no deeper than a swimming pool become such a magnificent natural wonder?
Jiuzhaigou National Park is located in the northern portion of the Sichuan Province in southwestern China. It is famous for its spectacular waterfalls, stunning lakes, and snowcapped mountains. Inducted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 and World Biosphere Reserve in 1997, Jiuzhaigou means “Nine Settlement Valley”, taking its name from the nine Tibetan settlements along its borders.
Out of these nine villages only seven of them are inhabited. The villages are home to around 1,000 residents who make their living by providing handmade products for tourists.
